Q:What share of your income do you spend on gasoline and transportation?

Anonymous

Honestly, very little in comparison to the average American. I live very close to where I work, I even walk home sometimes. I also get a $80/month transportation subsidy from my employer. I don’t ever use it up in a month, so usually I don’t ever have to pay for public transportation.

We have a car but we use it pretty infrequently—visits to friends and family in the burbs or shopping trips mostly. I’d say spending more than $30 a month on gas is rare.

Though if you count parking tickets, it might be a different story.
